THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen :: FIRST … What Does It Take for Queer Women’s Spaces to Survive? Filmmaker Alexis Clements traveled the country to find out. And her just released documentary “All We’ve Got” is a personal exploration of LGBTQ women’s communities, cultures, and social justice work — through the lens of the physical spaces they create, from bars to bookstores to arts and political hubs.
THEN … Three years ago, Olympia Auset started SÜPRMARKT, a Los Angeles pop-up and delivery service for organic fruits and vegetables. The idea came out of her frustration with the lack of healthy food options in South L.A. Now she’s starting ‘Keep Slauson Fresh‘ – a fundraising campaign to turn her mobile operation into a brick-and-mortar health food store. She joins us to tell us all about it.
AND … This Saturday, Chicana labor and civil rights icon Dolores Huerta will be celebrated with the unveiling of “Dolores Huerta Plaza” on E. 1st Street in Boyle Heights – with performances from Alice Bag Band, Lysa Flores, Ella, Drew Trap Girl, Chulita Vinyl Club & Nikki Darling. So we’re going to take a look back at Dolores’ achievements – with part of a special compilation from the Pacifica Radio Archives – celebrating her birthday last year with clips of her historic speeches and musical tributes.
All this on KPFK on Tuesday at 2. This is What Feminism Can Sound Like!
