Nov 27 on FM: 16 Days/Gender Violence, Trans Feminism & Grandmother Power

Hosted by Ariana Manov and Lynn Harris Ballen : Can we move from Peace in the Home to Peace in the World? That’s this year’s theme for the annual “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” project. It’s global, it’s grassroots and beyond simply raising awareness, the project thinks big – strengthening the work of local groups around the world in 172 countries.
Savi Bisnath and Julie Salthouse from the Center for Womens Global Leadership join us to tell us all about it!

Last week was Transgender Awareness week. Trans author and activist Julia Serano joins us to talk Trans Feminism – as one of the third-wave feminisms that take an intersectional approach to challenging sexism and oppression. We’ll discuss how Trans Feminism disrupts gender stereotypes, the inclusion of trans perspectives in feminism and the thinking behind the concept of transmisogyny.

And … today’s grandmothers–younger, healthier, better educated, and better off than grandmothers have ever been–have launched a new international grandmother’s movement. We’re joined by best-selling author/photographer Paola Gianturco, whose new book GRANDMOTHER POWER: A GLOBAL PHENOMENON features activist grandmothers worldwide fighting courageously and effectively to create a better future for grandchildren everywhere.
THIS is what Feminism Sounds Like!
