FM Aug 16, 2023 : Feminist Bookstore News / Abolition Feminism

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen :  FIRST  … For so many of us, Feminist bookstores hold a special place in our hearts. If you’re lucky enough to have one in your town or city, or if you’ve ever had one near you – you’ll know what a gift they can be. And what a vital role they’ve played in our feminist and lesbian memories, community building and histories.
Today we’re joined by Julie Enzer and Taylor Marie Doherty of the long running journal, Sinister Wisdom – to tell us more about their Feminist Bookstore News project.  And how you can get involved.

AND … Angela Y. Davis talks Abolition Feminism … ” Prison abolition needs Feminism, it needs anti-racist, anti-capitalist Feminism … ” –
Since 2020, the movement to defund the police became a rallying cry to reimagine our approach to public safety. We hear from Angela Y. Davis and other renowned scholars about how we can build a global movement to spark lasting change, dismantle oppressive systems and the shared strategies  an internationalist movement needs to to abolish policing and prisons.
Featuring: Angela Y. Davis, Lorgia García Peña, Medhin Paolos, and Leti Volpp. Moderated by Makani Themba.
