FM Oct 20 : ‘Mothers of the Revolution’/ BlackFeministCollective/ Domestic Violence

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen :: FIRST … The new documentary film Mothers of the Revolution takes us back to the Reagan / Thatcher era, and tells the story of how thousands of women from around the world came together at Greenham Common in England – to protest against nuclear proliferation.  We hear from director Briar March about the making of the film and how the women involved found their voices, found community and took action.
THEN Cherise Charleswell talks to Stephanie Younger, activist & founder of the Black Feminist Collective; a group of Black feminists and womanists who stand for Black liberation in its entirety, including Black feminism, womanism and abolition.
AND … October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. How has the COVID-19 lockdown been making it worse?
Domestic abuse affects everyone it touches — intimate partners, children, and elders.  Monica Lopez of Making Contact brings us insights about pandemic challenges to survivors and advocates, and the extra issues faced by undocumented and migrant women.
