This week on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen : Are you marching? The fourth Women’s March is planned for this Saturday and we look at the herstory and the controversy. We’ll talk to two guests who bring different perspectives about the Women’s March: How it’s evolved and why it’s mattered, how it has been part of wider movements, and where it is now.
FIRST … We hear from Jayna Zweiman – one of the creators of the original symbolic pink Pussyhat about her perspective, how the hat became a movement symbol (and in museums!) And what it means now.
THEN … The Anti-Capitalist Feminist Coalition of LA are marching in their second annual anti-capitalist contingent. This is a contingent for all who are “not represented by the elite neoliberal feminism of Hollywood but fight for grassroots power for women and queer folks and a life worth living for all.” We hear all about it from one of the member organizers, Kristin Huizar.
AND … Cherise Charleswell talks to Anna Palmer and Vanessa Bruce -co-founders of Dough, a unique e-commerce market that allows you to practice being a #WalletFeminist. Their mission is “to drive purchase power and awareness towards women owned businesses in order to create economic equality. When women rise, we all do”.
All this on Tues at 2 on KPFK.
