THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with hosts Lynn Harris Ballen & Suzette Zazueta :: FIRST … Lambda Litfest is LA’s first and only LGBTQ literary festival, and brings readers and writers together in a week of free community-curated literary events across the city. The third annual Lambda LitFest starts this weekend, and we talk to panelists from “Unsilencing Queer Africa” – one of the week’s events. We’re joined by Ainehi Edoro, founder of Brittle Paper – the pioneering African literary blog – and writer and editor Unoma Azuah.
THEN … With the consequences of climate change becoming ever more clear, a new powerful wave young people around the world have been rising up to defend our future. They’ve been going on strike – every week, all over the planet – for months. On September 20, for the first time, the adults are joining in. Led by a diverse coalition of youth-led and adult-led organizations, September 20 is an intergenerational day of striking that will launch an entire week of climate action across the world. We’re joined by Kailynn Cruz, one of the organizers of Youth Climate Strike Los Angeles.
AND … “Got a Girl Crush” is a blog and annual print magazine about women, by women, for everyone. Somewhere between a magazine and coffee table book, GGAC features the badass accomplishments of women with the hopes of inspiring others to do the same. And aims to disrupt the broken narrative of most women’s publications and tell stories of all ages, races, and backgrounds of women all over the world. We hear all about GGAC from editor-in-chief, Meg Wachter.
All this on KPFK on Tuesday at 2.
