THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Karina Elias ::
Feminist Magazine is looking back at 2018, a year as volatile as it was historic, and Feminist Magazine was there every step of the way to cover all of the stories that matter to you. From #MeToo to the midterms, social justice to supreme court justices, we are looking back at some of our favorite interviews and guests of 2018.
FIRST … We hear from writer, speaker and internet yeller Ijeoma Oluo about her book “So You Want to Talk About Race.” The interview also touches on the #MeToo/Time’s Up movement and the significance of Michelle Obama’s portrait and Black Panther.
THEN … Black feminist author/activist Alexis Pauline Gumbs to talk about Aretha’s social justice legacy. The world lost one of the greatest singers of all time on August 16, when musical genius Aretha Franklin passed away at the age of 76. Aretha used song – and the platform it provided her – as a way of advancing feminism and social activism in powerful and often overlooked ways.
AND … clips from other guests and Fem Mag moments of 2018!
