FM Aug 1: Repro Justice / Immigrant Families

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen  :  FIRST up today on the show –  In the current political climate a lot of us may be feeling powerless or wanting to take action and not sure how to do it… but California Latinas for Reproductive Justice are teaching new activists how to step up in real ways with their community advocacy event – California Latinas Presente! – a Day of Action that invites Latinas/xs to learn more about reproductive justice and the California policy process,  We hear from Myra Duran about the program – with hands-on training on California’s policy making process and effective advocacy strategies, plus visits with federal and state legislators to directly discuss priority reproductive justice policy issues – face to face.
THEN … Trump issued executive orders that called for the deportation of any and all undocumented immigrants in the United States. But what does thousands—or millions—of deportations mean for the uniquely American families that have grown up in immigrant homes? Featuring a podcast from Bitch Media called “When Your Parents Are Deported”, we hear the stories of two women who have tried to keep their families together even as the immigration system has torn them apart.

All this on Feminist Magazine KPFK 90.7 FM. Tuesday at 2P.
