FM May 2: Woman’s Building / LouderThanWords

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine – with co-hosts Lynn Harris Ballen & Kiyana Williams:
FIRST … What’s the legacy of the Feminist Art Movement among LA’s feminist artists of today? The Woman’s Building was a legendary space for the Feminist Art Movement in L.A. and around the world – from 1973 – 1991. Since the site closed, many of its artists have continued to promote its values and processes in their art, teaching and organizing work.
And now, working with Metabolic Studio, the Woman’s Building celebrates the next generation of Feminist artists with “Animating the Archives: the Woman’s Building “!  With a series of exhibits, public performances, readings and discussions (May 13  through June 3 in LA.)  We’re joined live in studio by Terry Wolverton, author/past Woman’s Building ED, and artists Marissa Magdalena and Lisa Diane Wedgeworth.
… PLUS … Can three women and a truck contribute to the prevention of Domestic Violence? WOMEN ON THE MOVE will transform a 20-ft truck into a mobile billboard and resource center, and travel to four cities, to help prevent Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. In shopping malls & parks, in neighborhoods that lack resources, with public “pop-up” events like street interventions, workshops and video screenings. We talk to the project creators – Louder Than Words artists S.A. Bachman and Neda Moridpour.

ALL this this Tuesday at 2pm PT on Feminist Magazine on KPFK. WHAT Feminism Sounds Like!
