FM Nov 8: ELECTION DECODE /’We Belong Together’/ Rad Women

11-8-collageComing up this week on Feminist Magazine with hosts Lynn Harris Ballen and Kiyana Williams :   TWO ELECTION DAY STORIES … Across the nation, immigrant women are doing all it takes to turn out the vote. For days, before this historic election that will directly impact the lives of millions of immigrant women in our country, hundreds of women from the coalition “We Belong Together” have been knocking on doors in the battleground states of Florida and Colorado – to get out the vote. We hear from two of them, about their experience in this election, their personal stories, and what they’ll continue to work for after the election is over.
AND … Yes, we need Feminist Ballot ‘Splaining in California! Angelenos have up to 25 ballot initiatives to vote on this election. So the Los Angeles Women’s Impact Collective put together an event – Decoding Key CA Ballot Initiatives with a Feminist Lens – a night of education, voter information, and conversation to learn how to advocate for women locally with our vote on November 8th!
Bringing local community advocates together to take a closer at some of the key ballot measures with a feminist lens – they examined how initiatives around homelessness, transportation, health and education, and drug and criminal justice reform will impact the lives of women locally and throughout the state. We hear from members of LAWIC about their feminist decoding!
PLUS … Have you ever wished for a women-centric history book that you could hand to a kid?  Well, first there was Rad American Women A-Z – now a New York Times bestseller. And now there’s a new collection from writer Kate Schatz and artist Miriam Klein Stahl. It’s called Rad Women Worldwide, and it’s a collection of 40 snappy mini-biographies along with cool cut-paper portraits of each woman. And it showcases “an international array of badass women through the ages and up to the present…”
All this on Feminist Magazine on Tuesday at 3.  THIS is what Feminism Sounds Like!
