THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with co-hosts Lynn Harris Ballen & Karina Elias : We start with voices of women who took to the streets at the huge #UnitedAgainstHate March the Saturday after the election – when thousands marched in protest in Downtown Los Angeles. Our radio program created a Feminists March! Contingent, got a huge response, and proudly carried our banner in the march.
We invited a few of them to join us on air, asking: Why did you show up & what will you do next? With guests: Jillian Sutton, Kristy Lovich, Solvej Sjou, Gina Young, Jennifer Novis, Dawn Finley, Aly Nagel, Julia Davison & Tina McDermot. We hear about first-time marching experiences, how social justice mamas created a Children’s Contingent, inspiration from the diversity in the crowd, plans for intersectional feminist coalition building, and how many will be using their art for resistance.

AND … we follow this this up with a panel discussion about ‘What’s Next? Amplifying the voices of women and organizations who have already been doing the work prior to this election wake-up. To discuss how new and seasoned activists can plug in, what our priorities need to be, and to share with our listeners what collective action across issues can look like. We’re joined by Jodeen Olguín-Tayler, one of the co-founders of the powerful national WOC coalition group – #Our100 Jollene Levid from the anti-imperialist, transnational feminist organization AF3IRM, and Jenny Binstock from The Los Angeles Women’s Impact Collective (LAWIC)
