We hear all about LA’s own Peace Over Violence – working to prevent violence against women, youth and children through education, counseling, and advocacy.
Peace Over Violence (POV) – formerly the L.A. Commission on Assaults Against Women, established in 1971 by pioneering feminist activists –  is multi-cultural volunteer organization & a prevention center for sexual and domestic violence, stalking, child abuse and youth violence.
We’re joined in studio by POV’s Community Engagement Manager Shirley Alvarado del Aguila and POV Denim Day spokeswoman – singer & artivist Maya Jupiter – to hear all about their work & POV’s upcoming humanitarian awards.

We’re speaking to hip hop activist, lecturer and journalist Rosa Clemente. Rosa – the Green Party’s 2008 Vice Presidential candidate –  recently launched her 2015/2016 “If I Was President” tour.  She’s speaking truth to power around the country. And joins us live from the road!
AND … Legendary activist and author Grace Lee Boggs passed away this week, and we honor her work in the civil rights, Black Power, labor, environmental justice, and feminist movements over the past seven decades.   Hear a clip from a past interview, when we were honored to have Grace as our guest on Feminist Magazine, talking to local activist Jollene Levid of AF3IRM. Plus voices from the doc film “American Revolutionary | The evolution of Grace Lee Boggs”
