FM Dec 2: #BlackLivesMatter/She’sBeautifulWhenShe’sAngry/Nuestra Medicina

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine, with hosts Lynn Harris Ballen & Felicia Montes : What’s next for the Black Lives Matter movement project after their #Ferguson freedom ride? Patrisse Cullors-Brignac – one of the founders of the #BlackLivesMatter project joins us. Patrisse is also the founder of local grass-roots organization Dignity and Power Now that fights for the dignity and power of incarcerated people and their families, And includes several projects including the Coalition to End Sheriff Violence.
THEN … we hear from Mary Dore, director of She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry – a new documentary film that resurrects the buried history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women’s movement in the US. Covering four groundbreaking years – from 1966 to 1971 – from the founding of NOW, with ladies in hats and gloves, to the emergence of more radical factions of women’s liberation.
AND … joining us from Mexico, Estela Roman, social worker, health practitioner, legal advisor and community Curandera tells us about her alterNative health work in her community in Mexico. As well as her travels across the U.S. to share methods of self care, health and wellness. She shares methods from her book “Nuestra Medicina/Our Medicine” and how traditional Mexican healing ways are being used to heal generations.
All this on Tuesday at 3. THIS is What Feminism Sounds Like!
