FM Sept 16: Women Demilitarizing/Decolonize Body Love/Africa in America

Coming up this week on Feminist Magazine with hosts Lynn Harris Ballen & Valecia Phillips :   In this moment of a new wave of US military action… we share profiles of women fighting the expansion of global militarism and violence. We hear from Korean sister Stella Soh campaigning to save an UNESCO world heritage site from a planned military base; US activist Kathy Kelly, founder of Voices for Creative Nonviolence; and Brazilian Miriam Nobre who works with the World March of Women. (Hosted by Sandina Robbins of the Women Rising Radio project, for Making Contact.)
Then … we hear from local activist Gloria Lucas – she’s taking her “Decolonize Body Love” tour on the road! The issue of eating disorders is not limited to white, middle-class populations. And she created a project to address that lack of visibility experienced by people of color.
And Kara Mack, founder of ‘Africa In America’ Magazine, joins us to tell us all about the magazine’s launch day. And the main event – the 1st Annual Original Works Showcase titled ‘For Our Boys’ – six original music and dance pieces dedicated to honoring the lives of African-American boys’ lives cut short by racism & injustice.
All this on Tuesday at 3pm on KPFK 90.7.  THIS is what Feminism Sounds Like!
