Hosted by Lynn Harris Ballen and Sirena Pellarolo :
First, we hear from Dr. Suzie Abajian, who’s running for the South Pasadena school board election on November 5. Dr. Abajian brings to the race her 14 years experience as an educator, including her 4 years as a former Math teacher for the South Pasadena Unified School District and her expertise as a Ph.D in Education from UCLA. As a Math teacher and teacher supervisor, she advocates for gender equality in the learning of a subject that has been traditionally male dominated. As an educator and a campaign organizer, she provides a progressive agenda in support of teaching–a feminized profession that she claims has been increasingly de-professionalized in this era of de-unionization and privatization of education.
