June 26 on FemMag: Occupying Feminism & Pink Ribbons, Inc.

Coming up Tuesday at 3pm on Feminist Magazine. with hosts Ariana Manov & Lynn Harris Ballen…
Can Occupy fight back against the War on Women? Feminist General Assemblies have taken place at Occupy gatherings in several cities across the country. Could these GAs be a model for how the Occupy movement collaborates with other social movements?
We’ll hear from activists Dior Vargas and Simran Sachdev of  Women Occupy Wall Street (WOWS) and from Freedom – new media ustreamer at Occupy Los Angeles & Iwanka Kultschyckyj of Occupy Philly. They’ll update us about about efforts to bring gender parity and women’s voices to the National General Assembly ≈ about plans for the national Feminist GA there on July 1st in Philadelphia.
Plus we’re joined by author Samantha King and producer Ravinda Dar, creators of the new documentary film Pink Ribbons, Inc. Breast cancer has become the poster child of corporate cause-related marketing campaigns. Countless women and men walk, bike, climb and shop for the cure. Each year, millions of dollars are raised in the name of breast cancer, but where does this money go and what does it actually achieve?  Pink Ribbons, Inc. is a feature documentary that shows how the devastating reality of breast cancer, which marketing experts have labeled a “dream cause,” becomes obscured by a shiny, pink story of success.
All this and more on Feminist Magazine on KPFK, Tuesdays at 3.
THIS is what feminism sounds like!
