Josy talks with Feminist Psychologist Dr. Catherine Edelmann, author of /FROM PERSEPHONE TO ATHENA: Patriarchal Oppression of the Feminine Psyche/. Dr. Cat theorizes that patriarchy assaults women on three separate levels of the body, mind, and spirit. Level 1 involves sexual and physical trauma; Level 2 involves mind control and brainwashing; and Level 3 involves the suppression of spiritual practices relevant to the victim — including global forms of Goddess spirituality. Although Dr. Cat focuses primarily on women, her theory can be applied to members of all oppressed groups.
