Mar 21 on FM: bell hooks | anti-Street Harassment week

Hosted by Ariana Manov and Lynn Harris Ballen

Is Feminism Still for Everybody? We’re thrilled to bring you a rebroadcast of a recent interview with visionary feminist theorist and cultural critic, bell hooks, who joyously re-defines the “F” word and interweaves the passionate politics of race, gender, class and culture. She describes Teaching Critical Thinking: Practical Wisdom, expands the concept of Belonging: A Culture of Place, speaking to the mind-body-spirit “homelessness” in all of us. And declares… “There can be no love without justice”.

And… it’s International Anti-Street Harassment Week! Founder Holly Kearl, the author of Stop Street Harassment: Making Public Places Safe and Welcoming for Women joins us to discuss this worldwide human rights issue that limits women’s access to public spaces and resources. Taking a multi-layered approach to address, prevent and stop street harassment that includes making men a big part of the solution.

WE’RE MOVING! Programming changes at KPFK mean we won’t be broadcasting in our usual timeslot for a while.  But we’ll still be putting together a fab feminist radio show every WEDNESDAY night …. DON’T MISS A THING!
