FIRST … Cherise Charleswell speaks with Crystal Bruneau, an Ambassador of Black Girls Run Los Angeles and Jay Ell Alexander, Public Relations Director and East & South Regions Regional Ambassador of Black Girls Run. They’ll discuss Black Girls Run’s mission of creating a community and inspiring Black women to live a healthy lifestyle, as well as their goal of getting more Black women to run.

PLUS … Xicana novelist and poet Ana Castillo joins us from her home in New Mexico, to speak with us about her newest collection of essays called “Black Dove: Mamá, Mi’jo, and Me.” Castillo’s collection of essays – through the lens of a working-class Xicana – connects the three generations, her mother, herself, and her son. The book talks about culture, religion, gender, sexuality, feeling like an outsider, and mass incarceration. In this interview with Feminist Magazine contributor Audrey Silvestre, Castillo deepens the conversation by sharing with us about the writing process, her own healing journey and identity politics.
