It’s feeling kinda lonely in Tucson, Arizona where performance artist Denise Uyehara calls for action on public funding for the arts and how her focus on our migration across borders of identity has taken her into immigrant rights and art as tools for social justice.
We’re taking it to – and off of – the streets! with Becky Dennison from The Los Angeles Community Action Network who is up close to homelessness, the criminalization of poverty and its disproportionate impact on women and children.
And….Dr. Maythee Rojas brings her “rasquache” (ras’-kwa-chay) self to an exploration of multi-layered identities, bridging the gap between feminists of color and white feminists –Can we ever make this work? Maythee is an associate professor in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies at California State University, Long Beach. After serving on the Board for twelve years, she has just been elected President of the National Association of Ethnic Studies. She authored Women of Color and Feminism.
