In an interview on February 10, Associate Professor of Anthropology, African-American Studies and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Wesleyan University Gina Athena Ulysse discusses Haiti. Ulysse contextualizes Haiti not only historically but how Haiti is perceived and represented which plays out in how the crises was handled, what is happening now-and ultimately the need for new narratives.
Later we will illuminate “A Prayer for Juárez” an event dedicated to uplift and raise awareness about violence against humanity around the world, beginning in Juárez. The main approach is to no longer come from a place of anger, hate or protest, but from a place of love and prayer towards this city and its people. As part of the 40 days of prayer for Juarez at CASA 0101, joining us is Dr. Ana Nogales who will discuss her newest play, Do Not Call Me Baby! a theater piece whose purpose is to expose the sobering reality of a thriving criminal enterprise- human trafficking.
