FM Sept 14, 2022 : Heatwaves & Energy Poverty / Holding Change – adrienne maree brown

THIS WEEK on Feminist Magazine with host Lynn Harris Ballen : FIRST … When temperatures rise to the point where they become dangerous, what happens to people who can’t escape the heat? As temperatures continue to soar and extreme heatwaves become the norm, a lack of resources to stay cool — so, having access to things like air conditioning, for example, — is a huge issue across the world.
To find out how people are fighting energy poverty, we hear about community responses that are working in southern Europe, a region that experienced a series of record-breaking, climate-fueled heatwaves this past summer.
This segment comes to us from our friends at Making Contact via The Response podcast.
AND … As organizers or activists we’ve all been in those meetings – the ones where we need to make decisions as a group or vision a larger goal. In our complex world, facilitation and mediation skills are as important for individuals as they are for organizations. How do we practice them in ways that align with nature, with pleasure, with our best imagining of our future?
Lynn talks to author and visionary thinker adrienne maree brown – about her book Holding Change: The Way of Emergent Strategy Facilitation and Mediation – it centers Black feminists, with skills and wisdom for any of us working to create changes in our world.

All this on KPFK on Wednesday at 7.
