FM Oct 28: Roxane Gay/ Herstories / Feminist Library on Wheels

Coming up this week with hosts Sese Abejon & Ariana Manov, plus contributors Lynn Harris Ballen & Cherise Charleswell :
What does it mean to be a “bad” feminist? Author Roxane Gay answers the question in her new collection of essays, ‘Bad Feminist. weaving the intimate and personal with her take on pop culture & current issues. She talks to KPFA Women’s Magazine host Tara Dorabji in this wide-ranging interview.
THENThe Herstories Project is a multimedia outlet for sharing women’s stories about the complexity of our lives and our relationships; particularly with other women. Co-founders Jessica Smock and Stephanie Sprenger join us to discuss the complex topic of female friendship, and how the bonds of women’s friendship can be more intimate and essential than marriage. The Herstories Project includes the stories — and voices– of a diverse group of contributors, and the current publication is entitled, My Other Ex: Women’s True Stories of Leaving and Losing Friends.
AND … As bell hooks writes in Feminism is For Everybody: “Imagine a mass-based feminist movement where folks go door to door passing out literature, taking the time … to explain to people what feminism is all about…”   That quote inspired Jenn Witte and Dawn Finley, both lifelong bookworms and devoted cyclists, to create The Feminist Library On Wheels (F.L.O.W.) A customized bookcycle – that’s traveling around LA & sharing feminist knowledge with the people … one pedal at a time!
F.L.O.W. is a node of the Women’s Center for Creative Work (WCCW)

All this on Tuesday at 3. THIS is What Feminism Sounds like!
