Dec 18 & 25 on FM: FemMag Reads holiday book guide!

Hosted by Ariana Manov and Lynn Harris Ballen … AND Our FemMag Reads commentators: Meg Wade of Skylight Books and Ms. blogger Danielle Roderick, are back with fabulous holiday gift giving advice.

They’re making their gift list & checking it twice … With suggestions ranging from books “for your friend who’s a Feminist, but doesn’t know it” …. to “what to give the Reproductive Justice Advocate in your life” …. to “what to give your Teen Sister/Niece when nobody’s looking” … “gifts for Your Mother to Make Her Wonder What You’re Trying to Say”… And. So. Much. More.
Click LISTEN below to hear the show… And (cheatsheet!) – The whole list is right here!

As book critic Elaine Showalter put it “The best thing a feminist can do for women’s writing is to buy women’s books.” And in this program we’re bringing you our favorite feminist books… books to buy for holiday gifts and books for your own wishlist … Books you’ll want on your own nightstand, and books to buy with those gift cards you’ll hopefully get from your more clueless relatives.  And we’re defining feminist books in the widest possible sense! Titles that embrace many feminisms… feminist ways of seeing … and feminist world views.

PLUS some of our favorite book-loving guests from the past year will be making ‘cameo’ appearances to tell you about the books they’ve loved, that inspired them or got them thinking.   Titles that you should be sharing with everyone on your list, chock full of brand-new and a bunch of older, interesting titles you may have missed in years past.
Fabulous guests like:… Slam Poet Roxy Azari … Eco-activist and comedian Kristina Wong … Black feminist teacher Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs … Gender studies professor Maythee Rojas … Jollene Levid, National Chair of Af3irm … Santa Monica College professor Melanie Klein …and singer and uppity blueswoman Gaye Adegbalola

Tune in to our FemMag Reads Holiday book special – THIS is what feminism sounds like!
