July 31 on FM: Slutwalk – where’s the movement going?

Hosted by: Ariana Manov and Lynn Harris Ballen : “Slutwalk” – the very name captures our national and international imaginations, generating controversy! Reclamation? Destructive label? Or something else entirely?

Slutwalks around the world are marches and rallies to put a stop to victim blaming, sexual assault, & rape culture. How do class, race and gender come together to contradict what informs – and derails – Slutwalk and other movements for equality and justice? Can this become an authentic intersectional movement that challenges and eradicates systemic issues that support rape culture?

We’ll hear from Heather Jarvis from Slutwalk Toronto, Janeen Mantin from Black Women’s Blueprint, Zoe Nicholson – speaker at Slutwalk LA, Jackie De Paz from Slutwalk Riverside and Christina Lopez from Radical Women Seattle.

AND we’ll open the phones for you to be part of the conversation at (818) 985-6735, Tuesday afternoon at 3 PDT on Feminist Magazine. This is what feminism sounds like!
