Dec 17 on FM: A Homeless Pioneer & a Sephardic Songstress

Hosted by Lynn Harris Ballen and Celina Alvarez

We met Judy Vaughn & Kesewin Firethunder. Judy – the Executive Director of Alexandria House – is a local pioneer in helping homeless women and women with children. Kesewin is currently a resident at Alexandria House & brings us her experiences as a homeless mother in Los Angeles.

We also heard from Vanessa Paloma – a singer, scholar and writer specializing in Sephardic Jewish women’s songs and their connection to women’s spiritual expression. Born in Colombia, and lived in Morocco, Vanessa’s music explores the common ground of Arab and Jewish culture among women.
